Get to Know Me

My first memory of yoga was when my father did a headstand and I clambered next to him in my diaper trying to imitate him. For many years, I have practiced with my father who has never really attended any studio classes and has had a steady daily self-practice even to this day.

After many years of competitive running for school and college, I developed many injuries from not stretching properly. My physiotherapist at the time suggested that I try hot yoga. I did it for a few years but felt that there was something lacking in the spiritual side of that practice.

In 2012, I was introduced to dharma yoga which is based on a system of classical Hatha-Raja Yoga which is a devotional practice that emphasises good health, a clear mind and a kind heart. I personally believe that yoga is beneficial for all, no matter how old you are. The only limitations are the ones we set for ourselves.

During the spring of 2015, I was able to complete my first 200-hour teacher training at the Sivananda Ashram in Kerala, South India. In the following autumn of that year, I went to New York and completed my 500-hour advanced teacher training in Dharma Yoga with the legendary Sri Dharma Mittra, one of the last remaining living yoga gurus in the world.

The year 2015 was a defining one for me. That was when I left my job in the city to focus on helping others find the amazing benefits of having a regular yoga practice. I have since completed several trainings in yoga, pranayama and meditation to further develop my practice and improve my knowledge of how the body works.

Additionally, I am a bodyworker and a certified advanced Thai Massage Therapist. I incorporate some elements of Thai massage in my teaching style, especially when adjusting and helping clients get in some of the more challenging asanas.

I teach all levels of Dharma Yoga. For further information, see Timetable/Contact Me, for public, group or private classes in London. You can also email me at [email protected].
